Bulgarian Black Sea South Savors 'Manna' Honey

The seventh yearly manna honey festival kicked off Monday in the southern Bulgarian Black Sea town of Tsarevo.

“Manna” honey is a honey produced by bees not from the nectar of flowers but out of secretions left on leaves by other insects who have eaten on them. It is darker in color, reaching red-brown, and is famous for its nutritional and health qualities and unique taste. Varshets spa resort marked 160 year anniversary

Varshets marks 160 year anniversary of its official announcement as a spa resort, 60 years of its announcement as a spa resort of national significance and 100 years anniversary of the contraction of the first national mineral bath in Bulgaria.

A festive ceremony will mark the three anniversaries in the resort.

Before 1989 the resort used to welcome 130 000 tourists each year. Nowadays it welcomes just 22000 guests per year.

EU to Finance Renovation of Bulgarian Cultural Buildings

The Bulgarian Culture Ministry will receive gratuitous financial help of almost BGN 11 M from the EU Operational Program “Regional Development” for renovating cultural institutes.

On Friday, the Culture Minister, Vezdhi Rashidov, and the Deputy Minister for Regional Development, Liliana Pavlova, will sign eight contracts, amounting to BGN 10 963 580, with which the operational program will help the renovation of some cultural buildings in Bulgaria.

2 Bulgarian Agencies to Promote Tourism Abroad

Bulgaria’s advertising agencies “Mag Advertising” and “Kres” have won a public tender to market Bulgaria as a tourist destination abroad, according to the public tenders registry.

The tender is for BGN 6.5 M and is financed by the EU “Regional Development” program. It is divided in three parts, corresponding to the concrete market to be targeted.

“Mag Advertising” owned by businessman Krasen Kralev is to promote Bulgaria in Russia over the next 14 months for the amount of BGN 1.5 M. The...

Bulgaria's Burgas Airport Welcomes Millionth Passenger

Eileen Nischik, who arrived at Burgas Airport on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast 11.12 EET from Cologne, Germany, turned out to be the airport's one-millionth passenger for 2010.

The 23-year-old German comes with her boyfriend Torsten Dormann to spend a week in Black Sea resort town of Obzor.

The lucky traveler and her friend were serviced in the airport's VIP hall and greeted by the airport director Georgi Chipilski in a special ceremony.
