Bulgaria Will Host Round of European Rafting Cup

Bulgaria will host a round of the European Rafting Cup from 31 May until 1st July. The competition will be held at Kresna Gorge. In connection to that the governor of Blagoevgrad Vladimir Dimitrov and the major of the municipality of Simitli Apostol Apostolov gave a special press conference, FOCUS Radio – Pirin reporter informed.

Golf and Wine Tourism with Strong Potential for Bulgaria

Over 300 million EUR could potentially be invested in golf courses in Bulgaria if the state provides private investors with plots suitable for golfing.

This statement was made by Krassimir Gergov, Chair of the National Tourist Board at the Fourth International Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Madrid, Spain.


If in 5 years golf courses were not built on the plots provided by the state, such plots would be automatically recalled, Gergov specified.

Bulgaria's Largest Mall Opens in Varna in June

The largest mall in Bulgaria will be opened in the Black Sea city of Varna on June 12 with a four-day program including music performances and fashion shows.

Mall Varna has a total all-out build-up area of 70 000 square meters, including 33 000 square meters of commercial space. Its 150 stores have already been contracted for the maximum period of ten years.

EU to give 50 mil euros for restoration of cultural sites in Balkans

The EU has earmarked around €50 million for the restoration of 26 cultural heritage projects in the Western Balkans region as part of the EU's efforts to integrate the region more deeply with the EU.

EU hopes funding for 26 sites will encourage further investment into tourism.

The money will be spent from 2008-2010 on restoring archaeological sites, churches and mosques in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia, European Voice...

Europe's Best Sommelier '2008 - Finals

The final round of “Europe's Best Sommelier '2008” competition took place in the National Theatre “Ivan Vazov” at 14 o’clock on the 19th of May. The winner was announced at the official ceremony.
