Bulgaria marks Midsummer Day

Bulgarians celebrated Tuesday 24 june the Midsummer Day, widely known as Enyovden, a holiday related to traditional beliefs about herbs and their healing power.

On June 24 the sun reaches its highest point in the sky and it is believed that if collected on this day herbs have the strongest medical power.

Bulgarian tradition has it that on Enyovden children and adults should roll in dewy fields or take a bath in rivers and brooks.

Jazz dreams come true at the 15th International Istanbul Jazz Festival

Jazz fans will not have to wait until August’s International Jazz Festival - Bansko 2008 to hear some quality jazz, as the 15th International Istanbul Jazz Festival is taking place comparatively close and for sure sooner, from July 2 to 16.

The festival features nearly 40 concerts of prominent jazz artists from all over the world as well as esteemed pop, rock and folk musicians.

Bulgaria's Sea Capital Varna with Second Project for Ski Track

The Mayor of the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna Kiril Yordanov announced Monday his administration was putting forth a project for the construction of a ski track in the Vladislavovo Quarter.

The Varna Municipality has received an investment offer by the European and Bulgarian Ski Federations for the constructing of ski track there. The details of the project will be considered by experts next week.

The construction of Perelik Project will take up to seven years

The construction of the tourism centre “Perelik” in Smolyan municipal will take from four to seven years. The first phase of the construction process of the ski equipment will start next year. This became clear on the official presentation of the investment plans of Smolyan municipal, held on 19th June 2008.
