Fish and mussel festival 2010 in Kavarna

The 7th edition of the unique Fish and Mussel Festival will take place from 10 – 12 September 2010.

Traditionally the seafood delicacies will be accompanied with beer, a lot of music events and unforgettable party emotions. The festival will be attended by master-chefs from the country and abroad.

Roman tomb near Silistra is opened for visitors

A 4th century Roman tomb that is one of the most valuable archeological sites in Silistra, north-eastern Bulgaria, is being reopened to the public for the first time in 20 years.

The tomb will remain open for visitors until the end of September 2010.

The tomb is known for its unique murals and flamboyant frescoes that reflect the transition from ancient to early medieval Byzantine art. It is believed to be the tomb of a Roman magistrate and his wife.

A Mountain Race will Mark the Hiking Day in Bulgaria

The 115-th anniversary of organized hiking in Bulgaria will be marked this Sunday at the Cherni Vrah summit in the Vitosha mountain nearby capital Sofia.

The first hiking and tourist society in Bulgaria was founded on August 27, 1895 by Bulgarian writer and nature-lover Aleko Konstantinov on the top of Cherni Vrah (2290 m). The society transformed into the present Bulgarian Tourist Union, and the anniversary of its founding is marked yearly on the last Sunday of August.

The Danube Bridge to Be Completely Finished by 2012

The main part of the construction of the second Danube bridge between Bulgaria and Romania will be completed by the end of 2011, the Bulgarian Minister of EU Funds has announced.

Minister Tomislav Donchev visited the construction site of the bridge in the Bulgarian city of Vidin on Thursday where he stated that only finishing things will be left for the beginning of 2012.

Bulgarian Archeologists Uncover Trojan War Burial Sites

A burial site with three funeral mounds is researched by Bulgarian archeologists near the southern city of Yambol.

The site is located in an area known as “Baalar Kayryak” in the vicinity of the village of Boyanovo.

In one of the mounds, where the excavations are near conclusion, the archeologists have uncovered four burials from the late bronze age, around the time of the Trojan War, 1 300 BC.
