Alpine meeting nearby Tran

During the days around the national holiday between 21 and 24 may, the Alpine meeting “Transko Gorge” will be held for the fourth year in a row.

The gorge of the Erma river, also famous as Lomnishko, is located 4 km away from Tran town and is the biggest tourism attraction in the region, one of the100 National Tourism Sites. 2000 museums from 40 countries will participate in the “Night of the Museums”

Two thousand museums from 40 European countries will participate in the night of the museums on 15 May, announced by the French Culture institute.

12 Museums will open doors from 6.00PM until midnight in Sofia. The total number of Bulgarian museums which will participate in the event is 42.
The Night of the Museums is an initiative of the ministry of culture and communications of France. It started in 2005 and is slowly turning into an European event.

Bulgarians Go For Home Resorts for May Holidays

The majority of the Bulgarians going on a vacation during the May holidays have preferred the home sea and mountain resorts to foreign destinations.

According to preliminary data of the Bulgarian Association of Tourist Agencies, 70% of those using the four days off around May 6 have decided to say in Bulgarian, and only 30% have headed abroad. In comparison, in 2009, only about 40% of the Bulgarian tourists taking the chance to travel in May stayed in the country.

Bulgaria's Varna City Hall Bans Summer Season Construction

All construction in resorts near Bulgaria's Black sea capital Varna is banned, beginning May 15, over the opening of the summer season.

The order was issued Tuesday by the Mayor of Varna, Kiril Yordanov.

According to the order, all unfinished sites must be secured, cleaned and cultivated while construction waste must also be removed by May 15, during the hours of 8 am and 10 am and 4 pm and 8 pm.

Violators will be fined up to BGN 10 000.

Plovdiv opens the first international Crafts Fair

Craftsmen from Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece show their skills during the first international crafts fair, which was opened yesterday in Plovdiv.
Participants will demonstrate hand techniques for glass, iron and copper articles, as well as jewelry, embroidery work, pottery, aroma soaps and etc.

The craftsmen who worked over the clothes and shoes for the films “Troja” and “Harry Potter”. A special exhibition “Violine majic”, will show the instruments made by the luthiers from Kazanlak.
