Italian co sizing up Stara Zagora as rose production site

Italy's Gruppo Ciccolella is involved in a feasibility study for a rose production site in Stara Zagora, Southern Bulgaria, news agency BTA quoted company president Vincenzo Ciccolella as saying.

Аccording to Ciccolella, a 70 ha site would enable an annual output of 50 mln roses.

The cost of the investment is estimated at 150 mln euro.

The Italian company hopes to create 300 new jobs with the launch of its rose hothouse operations in Stara Zagora.

Bulgarian Seaside Resorts Impatient for Norwegian Tourists to Arrive

Round 10% more Norwegian tourists already had booked their holidays in the seaside resort of Albena, compared to the same period last year.
Holiday-makers from Norway are quite solvent and the increase of the tourists is impressive, share tour operators.

Albena complex (North Black sea cost, North from Varna) expect first tourist for the year on March 10.

The resort will welcome about 150-200 guests from Germany on a balneology program this spring.

Bulgaria in Top 5 of German tourist poll

The Bulgarian Black Sea coast is the fifth most popular tourist destination among German holiday-makers, according to a poll conducted among 1,200 travel agents by the Urlaub Perfekt publication. The country scores well on affordability and family-friendliness but trails the competition in terms of customer service and quality of accommodation. The poll is topped by Spain, followed by Turkey, Greece and Egypt.

Surva 08 –The International Festival of the Masquerade games in Pernik

The 12th issue of Surva, the International Festival of the Masquerade games in Pernik, takes place on the 26th and 27th of January. This is one of the most prestigious international folklore festivals. The event presents the national masquerade games and customs, which are well preserved in Bulgaria since the antiquity.

5000 people are expected to take part in the festival this year, which is a record-breaking number of the participants. There will be 40 foreign groups from 13 countries like...

It's St. Athanasius Day

The Orthodox Church celebrates on January 18 the day of St. Atanasius, in Bulgarian Atanasovden.
According to local beliefs, St. Atanasius is the ruler of snow and ice. This holiday is also known as the Mid-winter Day.
When it's St. Athanasius Day, the spring is on its way. St. Atanasius' Day honors the patron of blacksmiths and he symbolizes immortality.

In some parts of Bulgaria single young men and women go out to the meadows that day and tie swings, sway, sing or dance folklore dances....
