Restoration of Ancient Bulgarian Capitals. Pliska, Preslav, Veliko Tarnovo are ancient capitals of Bulgaria

Round 2,5 million BGN (1,23 million EUR) will be granted in 2008 for restoration and conservation of objects in the archaeological reserves of Pliska, Veliki Preslav (Great Preslav) and Madara (Madarski konnik or the Madara rider).
All these important Bulgarian spots are situated in the district of Shumen (South Eastern Bulgaria).

The allocation was announced after a meeting of Shumen's district governor Nikolay Nikolov and Bulgaria's deputy minister of Culture Ivan Tokadjiev.

Netherlands Advises: Bulgaria to Encourage Bike Riding

The Dutch government will finance a traffic research of Sofia. After that should be elaborated a central system for the traffic management, based on the research, the online edition of Dnevnik daily reported.
The Dutch will allow for the purpose 200,000 EUR.

The project agreement was signed on Monday, January 28 by Sofia's mayor Boiko Borisov and the Dutch Ambassador to Bulgaria Willem van Ee.

The project will be executed by Dutch and Bulgarian experts.

Mercury in Bulgaria Zooms Up to 16C in February

Bulgaria is to see relatively warm and sunny weather in February with the mercury zooming up to 16C, meteorologists reported.

The average temperature in the plain parts of the country is expected to be lower than normal and higher in the mountain regions.

The monthly temperatures in the high mountains are to reach values set at between -8C and -4C although the sun is to shine brightly there most of the time.

Bansko Hosts Burton Amateur Snowboard Tour

For third year in a row Bulgaria's winter resort of Bansko will host round of Burton Amateur Tour (AMT) - the biggest snowboard competition for nonprofessionals in Europe.
With a total of 19 rounds in 15 countries, the third edition will be more impressive and the prizes more attracting than ever.
