The legendary alpine skier Marc Girardelli stated that Bansko is a popular name abroad.

Girardelli visited Bulgaria for the official opening of the news skiing season in Bansko and the announcement of Bansko as the “Winter Capital on the Balkans”, announced BTA.
Except Girardelli, Bansko also welcomed Peter Popangelov, Marc Girardelli, Andreaz Wenzel, Maria Walliser, Josef Strobl, Leonhard Stock, Luc Alphand and Michael von Gruenigen.

Police patrols whose members speak up to three foreign languages will be sent to the country's winter resorts, Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, informed.

Tsvetanov made a statement on Monday during a meeting with EU, Norway and Switzerland Ambassadors in Sofia, saying this was just one of the measures undertaken by his institution to provide safety for the visitors. In some resorts, such as Pamporovo, police will be even watching the ski tracks.

Bulgarian and Romanian organizations work over a project for marketing of Pilot Cross Border Tourist Products, which is being implemented within the framework of the Romania-Bulgaria Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013. All students and keen ice skaters will be able to skate for free at “Ariana” lake in Sofia.

Th e promo offer is valid every day from 8.00 am - 10.00 am. The ice rink at Ariana lake was opened yesterday and provided many surprises for all fans of the icy sport.

The mayor of Sofia – Yordanka Fandakova greted all residents and guests of the capital for the opening of the ice rink. Colorful fireworks lighted the sky after the end of the first competition.
