Bulgarian Land Development to invest 27 mln euro in new ski resort

Bulgarian Land Development (BLD), listed on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market, said it will invest 27 mln euro in a resort complex in Borovets, Bulgaria's oldest and most famous winter vacation destination which lies 80 km south of Sofia.
At the end of 2006 BLD acquired a 56,093 sq m regulated site 8 km from the center of Borovets, in proximity to the lower-end location of a ski lift that will be built as part of the resort's future expansion.

Ski Paradise in the Elena Balkan

The slopes under Chumerna peak in the Elena part of the Mountain Balkan Range are covered with snow. Skiers enjoy the steep slope and are even booking another downhill for the next week. Miikovtsi village is situated very close to the slope under Chumerna peak. It is huddled amidst beech forest and is favourite site for tourists due to the turbulent rivers, which form deep clear pools. Coastal Varna Crowned the Best Town to Live in Bulgaria

The city of Varna, located on the Northern Black Sea coast and often referred to as the summer capital of Bulgaria, is the best town to live in, according to a survey.

The poll was conducted by the leading local media private Darik radio, 24 Hours daily and the news portal DarikNews.bg and compared the quality of life in 35 of the biggest towns in Bulgaria. Varna topped the ranking after collecting 243 points, followed closely by the second-biggest town of Plovdiv with a score of 228 points...

Congress Tourism in Bulgaria is Up to Standard

Executive director of IMEX, the biggest expo for congress tourism, Paul Flacket claimed, among 227 countries Bulgaria takes the 47thplace in the ranking for congress tourism ICCA for 2006.
In compare, most popular destinations according to the rank- list are USA, Germany and United Kingdom, and Vienna, Paris and Singapore are the cities where had been occurred the most of the events.

Ski Tows, Lifts in Bulgaria's Vitosha Mountain Become Private Property

Sofia's Privatization Agency sold Wednesday the ski facilities in Vitosha mountain to a private company for the sum of BGN 8,3 M.

The ski tows and lifts became private property after municipal company "Rope Ways" has been bought by "Vitosha Ski".

The new owner is now obliged to maintain the facilities for 25 years, investing at least BGN 500,000 in the first 12 months.
