Bulgarian Tourist Industry Reaches Out to the Local Customer
Turning their back on years of chasing after the foreign holiday-makers, the owners of hotels and travel agencies in Bulgaria are now once again eager to woo the local customer.

The union of tourism industry investors Tuesday announced a 10% discount on the lowest wholesale price for Bulgarian customers that book in the period between January 1 and March 31 a holiday for any of the remaining months of the year.

Sofia International Book Fair Started

Over the 25 years that the annual Christmastime book fair has been held, it has drawn publishing houses from Bulgaria and abroad. This year, its 26th, is seeing some changes, most notably in the name: it is now called the Sofia International Book Fair.

There are two reasons for this. It is hoped that the fair, which is being held from December 5 to 9 in NDK in Sofia, will be added to the list of European book fairs, and to the list of European fairs at large. Also, as was said at the news...

Ice Rinks in Bulgaria for Christmas

The ice rink on the top of Varna Mall will be a real attraction not only during the cold winter days, but in the summer either. The unique facility will be 30 metres long and will be spread on the last floor of the new trade centre in Varna Sea Resort. The residents and guests of Bulgaria’s sea capital will have the opportunity skate 28 metres high above the ground.

Ski Resorts Brace for New Tourist Season

Yulen, the company operating the skiing facilities of the local Bansko resort under a concession arrangement, said it has invested 3 mln levs to improve the ski runs for the new season which starts there officially on Dec 15.

Their total length is now 77 km It has added a new four-seat ski lift with an hourly capacity of 2,000 skiers and a new tow system with a capacity of 600 skiers pe hour.

Days of Bulgarian Culture in Prague

Union of Bulgarians in Prague ‘Revival' organizes for forth year Days of Bulgarian culture in Czech Republic.
The enterprise will occur from December 5 to 22nd. Celebrations starts tomorrow with a concert of Bulgarian Folklore singer Valia Balkanska and the bagpiper Peter Yanev in ‘Palace Acropolis'.

Balkanska is world- wide famous with her performance of a Bulgarian folk song, which travels in space on board of the US-launched Voyager spacecraft.
