More German Pensioners Tend To Visit SPA Centres in Bulgaria

Germans obviously rediscovered their liking for the Bulgarian resorts, according to the statistics of the tour operators for the new winter season, said Manol Dimitrov, head of the information centre of the Union of the Tourism Investors seated in Frankfurt, Standart reports.

German tourists' interest has decreased over the last three years and now, the bookings for 2008 have increased by 12%, 16% more of the tourists chose SPA and wellness packages for three to five weeks.

Central Stara Planina Tourism

A need to revitalise regional tourism led to the first Best Touristic Sites in the Region of Central Stara Planina awards six years ago. The tradition has continued annually to 2007, with this year’s ceremony held at Hotel Balkan in Gabrovo on December 2.

Sylvia Hinkova, executive director of Regional Tourist Association (RTA) Stara Planina, which organises the ceremony and confers the awards, and regional political figures bestowed the hand-crafted wooden statues.

Weather on Mountains Suitable for Tourism

On the high parts of the mountains there is danger of avalanches but on the whole the weather is calm and fair, Mountain Rescue Service informed FOCUS News Agency. It is misty only in the region of Cherni Vrah peak. The snow cover on Vitosha mountain is 20 to 80 centimeters. The cabin lift Simeonovo is functioning as well as the open seats lift Dragalevtsi. The temperatures are between 0ºC to –5ºC on Cherni Vrah. The other ski facilities on Vitosha are not working.

Bulgaria & France United About the EU's Wine Reform

Bulgaria and France have remarkably similar positions regarding the European commission's reform in the wine sector.

The two countries have a common position regarding the European commission's suggestion for compensation under the vineyards uprooting program, which aims to reduce the maximal percent of the areas from 10 to 8 in three years.

This announced today Nihat Kabil, Minister of agriculture after a meeting with his French colleague Michel Barnier, cited by BNR.

Specialists studied the “Tiptseto” cave in the Rodope Mountain

The “Tiptseto” cave in the Rodope Mountain was studied by archaeologies. The project was initiated by Smolyan Municipal and is finalized by PHARE program.

Specialists have found bones from cave bear and prehistoric pottery, which proves that “Tiptseto” was inhabited by the ancient residents of the Rodope Mountain.

Archaeologists found out that the cave is even and dry, suitable for living and was used by the ancient residents for a temporary shelter.
