Bulgaria-Balaton Charter Flight to be Launched Next Summer

A charter service between Balaton and Bulgaria is to be launched next summer, FlyBalaton airport in Sármellék, on the western edge of the lake, has announced.

Hungarian tour operator Robinson Tours will start its first charter flight from FlyBalaton to Bourgas on June 18 2008, bringing Bulgaria's most popular beach resorts (including Sveti Vlas, Sunny beach, Nessebar, Sozopol etc) within reach of a one-and-a-half-hour flight, the Budapest Sun reported.

Sozopol Awarded with Golden Seal for Unique European Settlement

Sozopol is awarded with Golden Seal for being ‘Unique European Settlement'.
The award is given by European experts' forum and Official Agency for unique settlements in Europe.

The ‘Golden Seal' will be handed to Sozopol's Major Panajot Rejzi on an official ceremony on December 19 in Sofia City Art Gallery.

From now on all official documents of correspondence with European cities and countries and inside Bulgaria will be stamped with the unique golden seal.

M-Tel Builds Christmas Village

A Christmas village built with the sponsorship of Bulgaria's first and largest GSM operator, M-Tel, will open doors today near the National Palace of Culture, Sofia.
Sofia City Mayor Boyko Borissov himself will be there to cut off the red ribbon.

The International Fair Plovdiv will also have a Christmas village of its own as of tomorrow. Both the Sofia and Plovdiv Christmas villages will have slides and ice-rinks and little shops selling sweets and drinks. Once a week, M-Tel will bring...

Borovets Expects to be 100% Booked

Borovets mountain resort management expects the occupation of the hotels in the complex to reach 100 per cent in the 2007/2008 winter season.

More than 82 per cent of the preliminary bookings in the resort were made by foreign tour-operators, mainly from the UK. Numerous tourists from Russia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Serbia and Macedonia were also expected.

Currently, Borovets had a capacity of 5 500 beds and resort management planned to increase the capacity to 8000 beds, BTA said. All...

The Snow Cover in Pamporovo and Chepelare is 50 sm

The snow cover in the Rodhopean resorts was 50 sm, on Dec, 15.
There is a 40-sm-snow cover on Rozhen Peak as well.
On 15 Dec, at noon, the meteorology station on the peak showed temperature -12 degrees Celsius.
The ski season in Pamporovo started on Dec, 15.
“Mechi Chal” ski centre in Chepelare started the maintaining of the ski runs. The ski lifts in Chepelare will open on Dec, 19.
