Alternative tourism is the only way to make Bulgaria a year-round tourist destination and attract visitors outside the active summer and winter season, expert Stoyan Mihaylov, says.

Stoyanov spoke as representative of a company hired by the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, to carry out a research about attitudes of foreign travelers to SPA, cultural, and rural tourism.

The Austrian low-cost air company Flyniki launched a second flight to Vienna during the weekdays. The weekends remain with one flight per day.

Flyniki whose owner is the ex-Formula 1 pilot, Niki Lauda started flying to Sofia in February.

Except Flyniki, passengers from Sofia to Vienna may use also “Austrian airlines” and Bulgaria Air. 48 is the total number of flights during the week, between Sofia and Vienna.

A funny film fest starts in Gabrovo today. Thus the town of humor and satire revive the traditions of the festival of Comedy film from 1991. Guests of the event will have the chance to view films from 7 countries.

Thirteen movies, one documentary film and 2 programs with classic Bulgarian animation, as well as a presentation of 1 book are included in the program of the first event of the international festival. 8 productions will compete for the special Gabrovo prize and the Bronze cat. The...

Experts plan to provide easy accessible public transport to the highest parts of Vitosha, as an alternative of private vehicles. This was decided on a meeting between representatives of the Environmental Ministry and Stolichna Municipality.

The experts decided to seek opportunities to substitute Kniazhevo lift with fund from the Jessica program for financing of municipal projects, with return from services fees.

Bansko received the official prize for a Winter Capital of the Balkans on 30th September.

The prestigious prize was presented on a grandiose ceremony in Novi Sad – Serbia, during the International Tourism Fair in the city.

The decision of the the Balkan Association was supported by the European and World Association of Hoteliers.

The mayor of Bansko noted, that he is happy for the recognition of Bansko. He also stated that Bansko truly deserves the prize for all the improvements made...

The mayor of Bansko Mr. Alexander Kravarov shared his optimism for the forthcoming winter season. By the end of the month the Balkan committee of the mountain towns on the Balkan Peninsula will announce Bansko as the "Winter capital of the Balkans". The decision was already taken.

The down flow of the Danube river will be popularized by a Bulgarian- Romanian trans-border project.
The financing is from euro funds for 1.5 million BGN for the project “Trans-border region General Toshevo – Negru Voda – the unknown tourism destination”, announced from the Bulgarian municipality.
