Unique Coin Treasures Discovered

Four treasures of silver and copper coins were accepted in the National Historic Museum (NIM).

Two of these are silver and are the biggest of all Ivan Strazimir (Bulgarian tsar 1371-1396) treasures discovered by now. They were found by accident in the digging on a construction site and were immediately submitted to NIM.

The first coin treasure comes from the Vidin region and consists of 421 coins - early silver aspers of Ivan Strazimir, minted in the 60s and 70s of...

Blues Jazz Fest in Burgas

The next issue of "Burgas Blues Fest" will take place on 29, 30 and 31 August. This year the festival will gather by the sea the best Bulgarian blues players and several proven names from abroad.

They will be playing on a stage in the Sea garden just under "Primoretz" hotel. The stage will be located on the site of the Latino zone during the Spirit of Burgas festival.

A Unique Find in Bulgaria

An Original float light of colour glass was found in the old capital of Bulgaria Veliko Tarnovo. Such a thing has ever been found before. It was found by the archeologist Konstantin Totev in the newly found church at the hill of Trapezitza.

Milan La Scala will be a guest at Plovdiv

La Scala will be a guest at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv on 19th September. The tickets for the happening can be bought now on, announced the Mayor of the city Slavcho Atanasov. He personally negotiated the concert of the famous philharmonic orchestra with the Mayor of Milano.

Monument of Bulgarian Volunteers in Liberation War Opened in Sofia

A monument of the "opulchentsi" - the Bulgarian volunteer units who fought with the Russian Army against Ottoman Turkey in the Liberation War of 1877-78 - was opened in downtown Sofia 131 years after the fiercest battles at the Shipka Pass.

The monument is located behind the Military Club, and is a seven-meter high copy of the figure of the standard-bearer from the famous painting of Jaroslav Vesin "The Samara Flag" (1911).

Historic Shipka Pass Battle Recreated 131 Years Later

Hundreds of Bulgarians flocked to the Shipka Pass Saturday to honor the 131 year since the historic battle of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78, which led to the country's liberation, and to see its recreation by volunteers.

The Battle of the Shipka Pass, which is located in the central part of the Balkan Mountain, took place on August 21-23, 1877.

A Seal of Tsar Simeon was Found

A seal of Tsar Simeon was found in Veliki Preslav, archeologist Irina Shtereva, manager of the research team, said, BNR (Bulgarian National Radio) announced.

The seal is intact. It is made of lead, with an image of Jesus Christ on one side and the Holy Mother - on the other.

Similar is the recently found seal of Boris-Mihail, father of Simeon, but the inscription is in Greek. Archeologists dated the seal from the first years of Simeon's rule.
