Local State Agency of Tourism (SAT) informs that Bulgaria is elected for first time to be member of the two most important committees of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for the period 2007-2009.
The choice has been made by the time of the 17th General Assembly of UNWTO that is taking place in Cartagena, Columbia.

The forum is attended by 700 representatives of 150 countries-members and 500 associated and affiliated members.

Near the seaside resort village Shkorpilovci (South from Varna) was found golden treasure dated from the 14th Century.

In specialists' opinion it is from the reign of Tcar Ivan Aleksander.

Ivan Aleksander reigned as Emperor (Tsar) of Bulgaria from 1331 to 1371, during the Second Bulgarian Empire. During Ivan Alexander's rule, the Second Bulgarian Empire entered a period of cultural renaissance, which is referred to as the "Second Golden Age of Bulgarian culture"

The ski season in Dobrinishte is officially opened. Skiers and snowboarders enjoy excellent skiing conditions and snow cover over 150 cm.

The ski season in the Pirin Mountain started on Saturday. The ski lifts in Dobrinishte are already operating and the ski slope over Dobrinishte is perfectly maintained. German-based hotel chain Worldhotels said it is in franchise talks with several hotels in Bulgaria.

The company is interested in the whole Central and Eastern European region where demand is on the rise, said Robert van der Graaf, senior manager business development EMEA.

The executive said Worldhotels is currently looking at Sofia and is exploring the opportunities to brand existing as well as hotels still under construction.

"Bulgaria - Paradise also for Bulgarians" national campaign aims to popularize local resorts among the Bulgarian citizens and the Bulgarians who live abroad.
The ambition of the project is Bulgarian tourists to spend 100 million EUR for tourist traveling in the country.

The campaign foresees making a movie for Bulgaria as four season opened destination adding educational and musician events.
The motto of the campaign is: ‘Give yourself a rest in Bulgaria'.

New city hotel (Hill Hotel), near the Kempinski Hotel Zografski in Sofia opened.

FPI Hotels & Resorts, a unit of FPI, will manage the hotel 48-room Hill hotel which will apply for a four-star category rating. FPI said it plans to add more hotels in Sofia.

All ski slopes in Bulgaria’s Bansko mountain resort will be opened on December 1st, manager of ski center Bansko Ivan Obreykov said.
19 ski slopes are to welcome tourists in the resort. Bansko has been equipped with two new ski slopes, a new four-seat ski lift, and a new tow-lift. 160 machines will provide the resort with artificial snow.

A list of the top resorts suitable for those new to ski holidays has been released and the Bulgarian resort of Bansko features towards the top.

Compiled by the Guardian, Bansko is placed at number two in the list and is recommended for its good range of nursery slopes and modern lift system, which make it great for those on family ski holidays.

Bansko may also be a good choice for those on group ski holidays, with the newspaper noting that there is a "superb" 16 km intermediate run...

Each day an average of 12 000 people visit Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria, on business trip.

50 000 Bulgarians travel around the country each day. There are 15 million Bulgarian visits to historical sightseeing spots, according to the Institute for Tourism Analyses.
