On the 16 of January 2008 Burton gives a chance to any snowboard amateur to be a real professional in Burton Amateur Tour in Bansko. The famous Bulgarian mountain resorts hosts the event for the third time.

The competition takes place in the Fun Park at Platoto site. The participant can register themselves in front of Happy End Bar next to the first station of the cabin lift till 10 o’clock AM. From 10 till 11 o’clock the competitors will have the opportunity to test the slope and to train...

Between 12 and 19 February in the surroundings of Dospat lake, round the reservoirs ‘Shiroka Poliyana' and ‘Beglika' will gather the best competitors in ski orientation to take part in World Cup Championship for Ski Orientation.
The competitions will be in 4 categories: sprint, long destination, average destination and baton.

Over 300 sportsmen from 18 countries have already signed for the competition.

Bulgarian orientators are 18 in all age groups, as some countries as Russia, Sweden...

The Englishman Michael Weavers received the first prize in the annual competition for the best grape rakia (traditional Bulgarian brandy) in the village of Skalitza close to the city of Yambol in southeast Bulgaria.

Weavers has been living in the nearby village of General Toshevo by the Tundja River for several years, the Bulgarian National Television reported. He has been taught by his Bulgarian neighbors how to make good rakia by mixing several types of grapes and without adding sugar....

2008 will be the subway year, the finance vice-major of Sofia Minko Gerdjikov announced on today's public discussion over capital's budget.
Gerdjikov explained the municipality prepared 108 million BGN (54 million EUR) for the construction of underground railway.

The plan is the subway trace to reach ‘Mladost' district to the end of the year.

This year Sofia Municipality grants the biggest amount for planting that have ever been spent for these actions - 10 million BGN (5 million EUR)....

Traditionally Mallorca, Turkey and Egypt are the most preferable destinations among the German travelers but the resorts in Bulgaria and the Canary islands are the new hot offers at the German tourist market for the summer season...
