National Meeting to Aid Bulgaria Rural Areas

A national meeting of Bulgarian cultural community clubs (known as chitalishta) from rural areas is to take place Tuesday at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. It is sponsored by the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Supply.

The main objective of the meeting is to coordinate and enhance the participation of the cultural community clubs in the application of the National Program for Development of Rural Areas for 2007-2013.

Bulgaria Expects More Chinese Tourists in 2008

This year for the first time Bulgaria is officially announced as a tourist destination in China and our country can expect much more Chinese tourists in the summer of 2008, The State Agency of Tourism (SAT) director Anelia Krushkova announced.

According to Krushkova, Chinese tourists are interested mainly in gambling and Bulgaria has 4,216 officially registered casinos and gamble houses.

Italian Scientists to Save Unique Ancient Temple-well in Bulgaria

Italian historians will take part in the rescuing of the only temple-well in Bulgaria.
The unique monument is called ‘Pusto Gurlo' (‘Vain Throat') and is located in Gurlo Village, Pernik area.
Scientists dated it from XIV century before Christ.

Together with Pernik Municipality, the specialists from Italy will make a project to apply for EU funds granting.

Bulgaria will be presented as a tourist destination in Japan

The president of the State Tourism Agency, Anelia Krushkova will present Bulgaria as an attractive tourist destination at tourism seminar in Tokyo – Japan. The event, which has started today, lasts till the 8th of February. Representatives of the tourism administrations of Albania, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Monte Negro, Moldavia, Serbia and Ukraine will take part in the seminar too. 250,000 Russians Expected to Visit Bulgaria in Summer

Round 250,000 Russians are expected to visit Bulgaria during the coming summer season.
This was informed by the consul general of the Russian federation in Varna city Anatolii Shtelkunov, quoted by the Standart daily.
According to his words the number of the Russian holiday makers is increasing every year. In 2007 their number reached 200,000 people.
